That makes total sense. I wonder if there's a distinction to be made between the impact of knowing real, living trans people in real life (and the impact of being out in your personal life) as opposed to impersonal, public-sphere-level visibility for transness in general (especially when it's framed as a political issue). I know the very early period of my transition would have been way easier if I'd known other trans women in person, and in general I'm very glad that the organized community is so focused on early transitioners - that's who needs the support of an organized community, after all. But having enough collective visibility to reach people who need support without accidentally making it harder for others is a tricky needle to thread, and I don't really know where the optimal balance is
