Right. Either you're OK with the fact that other people are free and autonomous in exactly the same way as you, or you aren't. If you are, then the best thing to do is look after your own actions. If you aren't, then you're setting yourself up for a whole lot of unnecessary unhappiness, because you're totally right that you literally can't make someone agree with you unless they want to - the closest you can get is punishing them for not paying insincere lip service to your beliefs, which is horrible for them of course but also unsatisfying for you.
